Now in its 27th year, the AOP Photographers Awards prize photographers for the beauty of their work, their creativity, technical skills and originality. For the 2010 edition of the competition, many grand changes have been introduced “to provide a more contemporary feel”. Foremost, the call of entries starts in January while online entry opens in February. The winners will be announced in October 2010 when all the selected art works will be presented in the exhibition during which the Awards Book will be launched. New categories have also been introduced in the existing range: Innovation, The Best Commercial Use of Photography (in Advertising, Design and Publishing). In a radical departure from the customary format, the Association of Photographers, this year, have decided to open the competition to non members of the AOP in specific new categories: Non-Commissioned Body, Non-Commissioned Environment and Non-Commissioned Object. The online entry system will modernise and should simplify the whole submissions process. In addition, the entry fees have been reduced and a special offer is done for early entrants: any work submitted by Sunday 21st February will get an extra reduction of around 15%. Online entry: from Monday 8th February until and Sunday 28th March (midnight).
